Maphelane to St Lucia

A short leg just to set up the St Lucia to Cape Vidal run and avoid the long jungle drive back into Maphelane. Returned to Richards Bay for a 4-day weather wait, then moved on to St Lucia on the 12th, spending the day at the St Lucia Safari Lodge – aircon again, a real pleasure.

Our host Dennis arranged a boat cruise on the estuary, where we saw hippos, a nesting croc and a Giant Kingfisher. Craig came up from Richards Bay that evening to join the next day’s paddle.
