Eersterivier to Oyster Bay

It was tough to leave the Loots family after such a lekker stay. The launch off the beach was straightforward with small swells, and I stayed close to shore for the first section. In the middle of the bay I paddled up to a chokka fishing boat and gave them quite a fright coming around it – I counted 35 boats anchored in a group, running huge light bulbs to draw the chokka in.
Coming into Oyster Bay was straightforward thanks to a well-chosen exit point picked out by Warren. We’d been invited to camp on the lawn at the Oyster Bay Beach Lodge by owners Nic and Stephanie, but with no lawn free we ended up pitching our tents on their balcony instead. The lodge has the most relaxing atmosphere I’ve come across, which suits me perfectly – Nic looked after our every need from breakfast through to dinner.
