Port Shepstone to Umzumbe

A short one just to trim tomorrow’s long paddle to Winklespruit down from 67km. My first real experience of shore break – still plenty to learn there, and paddling with booties full of coarse sand was the low point.

Spent some of today thinking about the people behind the scenes who’ve made this trip possible: TourismZA’s Mike, Andrea and Rory, who’ve been behind the expedition since attempt #1; Send and Receive’s Dion, who’s overnighted replacement gear (and passports) wherever needed; my driver/chef/everything Warren; my brother-in-law Kevin and mates Ralph, Dale and Tallon who keep the DownWind Dash going in Cape Town; and my wife Judy, who has supported me at every turn. Not too many more sleeps till we meet again.
