Hole in the Wall to The Kraal

After a humid, mostly sleepless night I wasn’t on the water till 7am, into a light offshore wind. Shortly after leaving I came across the lesser-known “second hole in the wall” – smaller and less dramatic, but still very cool. It wasn’t a mentally great day, made harder by SAFM’s political chat before I switched to music; the last 5km fought a thumping 4km/h current, forcing me right up against the cliffs.

Landing was simple. I stashed my ski in the bushes and hiked up the hill to find The Kraal Backpackers – an eco-friendly spot with no electricity, running on rainwater and their own veggie garden. Rump and potatoes on the fire tonight, and Mboyti tomorrow at 5am.
