Mtentu to Glenmore

Opted for a later start given the forecast, on the river by 07h30. Felt very lethargic from the start, and shortly after clearing the river mouth I started throwing up. Decided to push through rather than turn back, but it didn’t improve – lead arms, stomach cramps, eyes sensitive to light. The one silver lining was a strong favourable current for the first time in ages, keeping my average just under 10km/h despite everything.

Warren had just arrived in Port Edward after 200km of muddy Wild Coast roads to my 45km paddled. We moved on to stay in Justin Chadwick’s holiday home in Umzumbe for the next few nights.
