Cape Infanta to Jongensfontein

A braai with Beetle at his spot on the Breede River the night before, and I managed to convince him to join me for at least part of the day. We were on the water a few minutes after 5am into a light south-easter, not ideal for a long paddle. After about 15km Beetle turned for a downwind run back to Cape Infanta, leaving me to carry on into a building headwind that had my ski banging down off the chop, not what I signed up for.

I cut across the bay again to reduce the distance, at the furthest point just over 6km offshore, average speed dropping below 9km/h. Rounding the point before Jongensfontein the wind seemed to follow me, still bang on the nose and gusting up to 20km/h with whitecaps everywhere. Coming into Jongensfontein, Warren talked me in around the reef and breakers into a little gully the local surfers had cleared as their launch spot. Good to be back on terra firma and able to stretch legs that were on the point of cramping.
