Victoria Bay to Buffels Bay

After a day wandering around George it was back to the usual routine – up at 03h45, strike camp, the all-important cup of coffee, then down to the beach. Launching at Vic Bay meant a few minutes waiting for the sets to pass before a quick sprint through the impact zone. I got the timing right and didn’t even get my hair wet.

It was a good trip, some lumps pushing me along nicely, and in the last hour the wind swung in from behind, which always makes me smile. Plenty of dolphins around, but they were clearly in hunting mode and ignored every attempt I made to get their attention.

Coming into Buffels the surf looked impressive, especially on the outer point. Not keen on any extra excitement, I kept well clear of the surf zone and paddled into the beach without any drama.
